How to remove a password from a PDF
- Choose or drop the locked PDF.
- Type the password you use to open it. If the PDF opens without a password but will not let you print or copy, leave the box empty.
- Click Unlock PDF.
- Download the unlocked copy. It opens without a password and has no print, copy or edit limits. Your original file is not changed.

Common statement passwords in India
Banks and other senders tell you the password format in the email or SMS that came with the PDF. Many use a combination such as the first four letters of your name in capitals plus your date of birth (DDMM), your PAN in capitals, or your customer ID. e-Aadhaar uses the first four letters of your name in capitals plus your year of birth. Check the sender’s email if you are unsure.

How do I remove a password from a PDF?

Can you unlock a PDF without the password?
Only if the password is for restrictions (print, copy, edit) and the file opens without one. If the PDF asks for a password to open, you need that password. This tool does not crack passwords.
Is it safe to unlock my bank statement here?
Yes. The PDF and the password stay in your browser; nothing is uploaded to ToolsRiver or anywhere else. Remember that the unlocked copy can be opened by anyone who gets the file, so store it carefully.
Why does it say “Wrong password”?
PDF passwords are case-sensitive. Check Caps Lock, use capital letters where the sender asked (for example the PAN or name part), and do not add spaces. Date-of-birth formats such as DDMMYYYY and DDMM are often mixed up.
Is it legal to remove a PDF password?
Removing the password from your own document, or one you have permission to change, is fine. Do not use it to get around protection on files you are not allowed to open or copy.
Which PDF encryption types are supported?
AES-256, AES-128 and RC4 (40-bit and 128-bit), the standard password types made by Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, banks and most PDF software. Files protected with certificates or DRM systems are not supported.

Yes. It works in Chrome, Safari and other modern browsers on Android and iPhone.
