How we count the days you have lived

The tool counts calendar days from your date of birth to today, including every leap day (29 February) in between. The day you were born counts as day zero, so on your first birthday you had lived 365 or 366 days. The live counter under the total also counts the hours and seconds since midnight on your birthday.

The other numbers are estimates built on average rates. Your own heart and breathing rates change with age, fitness and activity, so treat them as a fun guide, not a medical measurement.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate how many days I have been alive?

Count the days from your date of birth to today, including leap days. A quick estimate is your age in years × 365, plus one day for every leap year you have lived through, plus the days since your last birthday. This tool does the exact count for you.

Does the count include today and my birthday?

The day you were born counts as day zero, which is the usual way to measure age. If you want to count both your birth day and today, add one day.

Are the heartbeat and breath numbers accurate?

They are averages, not measurements. Heart and breathing rates are higher in babies and children and vary from person to person, so your real totals could be higher or lower.

When is my 10,000th day?

Your 10,000th day is your date of birth plus 10,000 days, at about 27 years and 4 months. Enter your date of birth above and the milestones list shows the exact date, along with your billion-second birthday and other round numbers.

Is my date of birth saved or shared?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser and the card is drawn on your device. The challenge link only contains your first name (if you typed one) and your day count.

Why does the card not open in WhatsApp directly on my computer?

Sharing an image straight into an app works on most phones. On a computer, download the card first and attach it in WhatsApp Web, or use the WhatsApp button to send the text and link.
