How to convert PDF to Word
- Choose or drop the PDF you want to edit in Word.
- Keep Editable text to get text you can change, or pick Exact look if the file must look exactly like the PDF.
- To convert only some pages, type them, for example 1-3, 5. Leave the box empty for all pages.
- Click Convert to Word and download the .docx file. Open it in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, WPS Office or LibreOffice.
Two ways to convert
| Mode | What you get | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Editable text (recommended) | Real Word text with paragraphs, headings, bold, italic, font sizes, bullet points and tab-aligned columns | Letters, reports, resumes, notes and agreements you want to change |
| Exact look | Each PDF page placed in Word as a picture, so the layout is identical | Forms, brochures and designed pages you only want to view or print from Word |
What is kept and what may need fixing
- Kept: text, paragraph breaks, headings, bold and italic, font size, centred titles, page breaks and page size.
- May need small fixes: tables (they become tab-separated text), multi-column layouts, text boxes and pictures inside text pages.
- Scanned PDFs: a scanned page has no real text, only a photo of the page. Such pages are added to Word as pictures. Editing them needs OCR (text recognition), which this tool does not do.
A quick check: if you can select and copy text in your PDF reader, the editable conversion will work well. To shrink the PDF first, use Compress PDF; to convert only part of a long file, type the page numbers or use Extract PDF Pages.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF to an editable Word file?
Add the PDF, keep “Editable text”, and click Convert to Word. Open the downloaded .docx in Word or Google Docs and edit it like any document.
Is the converted file a .doc or .docx?
It is a .docx file, the standard format used by Microsoft Word 2007 and later, Google Docs, WPS Office and LibreOffice.
Why are some pages pictures in my Word file?
Those pages are scanned images with no selectable text. The tool adds them as pictures so nothing is lost. Editing scanned text needs OCR software.
Will tables be converted?
Table text is kept and its columns are lined up with tabs. Borders and merged cells are not rebuilt, so you may want to turn them back into a Word table with Insert → Table → Convert text to table.
Can I convert only one page of a PDF to Word?
Yes. Type the page number in the Pages box, for example 3, or a range such as 2-4.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. It works in Chrome, Safari and other modern browsers on Android and iPhone. The Word file downloads to your phone and opens in the Word, Google Docs or WPS app.
Are my files uploaded to your server?
No. The PDF is opened and converted by JavaScript in your own browser, so the file never leaves your device. This makes the tool safe for bank statements, agreements and other private documents.
Is this tool free? Do I need to sign up?
Yes, it is completely free and there is no sign-up or watermark. There is no daily limit; very large files are limited only by your device’s memory.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
No. Remove the password first (open the PDF with its password and save or print it as a new PDF), then convert it here.
